Reinventing Great Minds

Our big change
won't change what we do
or how we do it.

Great Minds Learning Center has been operating as a nonprofit from its start in 2011. With big dreams of sharing the magic that returned the promise of opportunity to my daughter, I set out to help others who were reading below grade level - especially children experiencing additional disadvantages.

I worked through new scholarship models and fundraising approaches. The need was there, the solution was effective but sustainable funding remained unachievable.

There was no compensation for time spent researching, asking, tracking, doing paperwork, creating reports and all the other requirements of an executive director. The need was increasing, but we never knew how long funds would last.

The mental and emotional toll of failure was relentless. Asking for help never became easier.  I was not in the right job.

A New Start:

With a vision for a new start, I founded Great Minds Learning Center LLC and began the process of dissolving Great Minds Learning Center as a nonprofit.  If I was going to lose sleep and skip pay checks, I wanted it to have ownership of my dream.

The new business format will allow me to devote more time to students and staff, and to build simplified curriculum for reading, spelling, handwriting and math facts.

Scholarship and sponsorship support will continue as funds and sponsors are available. See our website for information on how to participate: www.gmlc.co, click on the “support” button. Contributions will no longer be tax deductible, but the impact of financial assistance remains as profound as ever.

An email update on the balance of the fund will go out the 15th of each month for those who wish to invest or sponsor a student.

We have so much gratitude for the generous donors and the multitude of friends and family who came through with meaningful contributions. They have always been there ready to help. Together we have changed the life trajectory of hundreds of children.
